Select English, London offers general English courses all year round from January to December. Courses also include IELTS preparation and Cambridge exam preparation. The school is situated in Crystal Palace, south-east London – a safe, pleasant and very green residential area with good transport into central London. The Crystal Palace area is famous for its excellent local shopping, sporting and entertainment facilities.
Spacious Victorian buildings with a warm, bright and friendly atmosphere make for a pleasant study environment. Attractive gardens and a school cafe allow students to relax between classes and to meet with their classmates.
Activities
A varied evening social programme exists from September– June ; the school also offers optional Saturday full day trip to famous places such as Cambridge, Oxford or Bath (at extra cost). Trips to Paris, Edinburgh and Amsterdam are also available (over 3–4 days at extra cost).
Accommodation
The school offers both homestay accommodation, in single or shared rooms. Many host families are within walking distance of the school, and some are reached by a short bus ride.
A residence is located next to the school offering the following facilities:
- Washbasin in all rooms and a shower in most rooms
- TV and a high-speed Internet connection point in each room
- On-site warden
- Breakfast in the on-site cafe
- Lunch available at extra cost Monday–Friday
- Shared kitchen for students to cook an evening meal, if they wish
- Bed linen is provided but students need to bring their own towels
The cafe, which is situated in the gardens of the school residence is open for breakfast for students staying in the residence and from 11.00 am – 14.00 pm Monday to Friday for all students. Every day there is a choice of hot meals, sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit and drinks.
