LSI Christchurch is located in the centre of the city above a famous dessert shop called Strawberry Fare, in Peterborough Street. It is close to public transport, shops and restaurants .
Facilities include 5 classrooms, a computer room with free internet access and a comfortable student common room to relax in after classes.Practise your English while you enjoy the varied activities that Christchurch has to offer. LSI Christchurch has a social activities programme that is relaxing and stimulating, and makes the most of the beautiful location and cool climate. You can choose from sightseeing trips by tram, boating on the river Avon, fishing, skiing in the Southern Alps in winter, learning about Maori culture and many more activities.
Area Introduction
Christchurch is famous for its natural beauty and a wealth of things to do. The city has a lively entertainment scene, strong cultural heritage, gorgeous parks and gardens, lots of sports facilities and good shopping. Among the ‘must sees’ are the weekend Arts Centre market, Christchurch Cathedral, the Botanic Gardens and the International Antarctic Centre.
Away from the city there is much to see within a short distance. To the east lie the open ocean and Banks Peninsula, featuring sheltered bays, sandy beaches, and rugged coastline, ideal for boating. To the west, past forests and lakes lie the highest mountains in Australasia, the Southern Alps, offering perfect skiing conditions in the winter. A journey north reveals green rolling hills, forests and long, empty beaches, with the whale-watching centre of Kaikoura about 2 hours’ drive away.
