This centre is located in a pretty tree-lined square in the very heart of Oxford, next to the most famous colleges. Christ Church and The Bodleian Library in Oxford were both used in the filming of the Harry Potter film series. The High Street and all of Oxford’s attractions are on its doorstep. The school is located in two buildings, very close together, which offer bright classrooms, a spacious student common room and a study centre with a library, computers and videos and an IT suite.
It is bright and airy, with lots of natural light flooding each room; a spacious well-equipped Study Centre with lending library, computers and listening stations and with a librarian on hand to offer advice; a large comfortable student common room where you can watch TV or a film, read the daily newspapers, get a hot or cold drink, or bring your lunch (there is no canteen because the centre is surrounded by a wonderful selection of cafes, restaurants and supermarkets).
Activities
There is a lively programme of excursions and activities at Embassy CES Oxford. In the summer months there is an even bigger choice. Regular trips take students to see the best-known attractions in the country, from Stonehenge to Alton Towers. If you enjoy sport, there are many opportunities to join in football, tennis and volleyball games. Your activities organiser will also help you book independent trips.
Residential accommodation is available year-round with single or twin study bedrooms (all with private bathrooms) above the school and in an additional residence only a short walk from the school. Further residential accommodation is available (with single rooms and shared bathroom) in the summer only, in university residences close to the school.
Location
Famous for its cultural and educational heritage, Oxford has a history going back to the 7th Century. Today it’s a wonderful mix of ancient tradition and modern cosmopolitan splendour.
Oxford University, the oldest in the UK, is nearly 800 years old, but Oxford is not only an academic city. It is rich in culture with museums, theatres and cinemas and buzzing with cafés, restaurants, bars and clubs.
There are shops of every type, from large department stores to small specialised shops, including the famous Covered Market.
Most areas of the city can be reached on foot, but Oxford is excellent for cyclists, too. There is also an efficient bus service.
