Every year thousands take an English language exam, to be able to apply for a job, school or even to immigrate. English language schools around the world run special training programmes to prepare students for these tests.

TOEIC measures the ability of non-native English-speaking examinees to use English in everyday work activities. This exam was developed by ETS (makers of the TOEFL exam) on request by the Japanese government. It is still a very popular exam for Japanese language students.The exam is a two-hour multiple-choice test that consists of 200 questions divided into 100 questions each in listening and reading comprehension.
