Vancouver from Vanier parkWith a population of 2 million, Vancouver is small enough to be a safe destination for foreign students, and it can still offer all the attractions of big city life. The city is home to a large and varied population. Groups of Europeans, Chinese, Indian and Latin American’s have made the city their home. Diverse neighborhoods, many international restaurants and festivals make it a dynamic place. Vancouver’s young population means that it always has access to the latest fashions, bars, shops, galleries and clubs.

Close to mountains, the Pacific Ocean and near limitless nature there are plenty of outdoor activities available. The mountains offer snowboarding, skiing and hill walking opportunities. There are three major ski resorts located just 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Jet skiing, whale watching, or just visiting a beach are other opportunities. Students will find that many of the locals enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle.

In summer the climate is warm and dry, making it ideal for water sport such as swimming and sailing. In winter the city rarely sees snow, but the mountains and ski resorts are close by.

With a population that is just over 50% Asian it is only natural that a large part of the international students are coming from Asia followed closely by students from South America. The city also attracts many students from the rest of Canada. A wide variety of programmes are available, from short term language study all the way through to degree programmes at the Canadian Universities.
