Brisbane is one the fastest growing cities in Australia but it has managed to retain its easy and relaxed lifestyle. Easy to get around, the city offers everything from shopping to eating outside within easy distance.
In the center of the city you will find the Southbanks artificial beach where people will just walk in from the city centre and lay down to catch a few rays while enjoying the water. The city is dotted with parks, allowing visitors to enjoy the warm climate of Australia. Just outside the city visitors can try water sports, surfing and feeding dolphins.
The city is close to some of Queensland’s most popular attractions. Near Brisbane is the Gold Coast, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. A 35 kilometer strip of beaches with resorts, theme parks and high rise buildings, the gold coast has daytime temperatures of over 22 degrees for three quarters of the year.
Another popular destination is the 120km long Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island (a world heritage site). Nearer to Brisbane is the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where visitors can have their picture taken hugging Koala’s.
Brisbane’s houses are generally large and detached, featuring big gardens. Staying with a homestay is a good way to get to know the city when just arriving in Brisbane.
